Altura Mining produced the first lithium concentrate in the Pilgangoora project in the Pilgangoora project in the pilbara, western Australia.The company transitioned from developer to miner last week.
The Pilgangoora mining project officially broke ground 16 months ago in March 2017.After full production, the company's processing plant will produce 220,000 tons of refined lithium annually to supply the electric vehicle and static storage lithium ion battery market.
James brown, general manager of Altura Mining, said the company has been working on the project in strict accordance with its schedule."As with any project, there are some obstacles in the development process, but the whole team has been working tirelessly, and we are about to deliver the first lithium products," brown said.Our focus now is to maximize production over the next six months, and then we can turn our attention to project expansion.
The expansion project involves a new lithium plant with an annual capacity of 440,000 tons.
