China And Ukraine Have Agreed To Deepen Cooperation In Renewable Energy

- Dec 13, 2017-

China's energy storage network: the Ukrainian government says China and Ukraine have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of renewable energy.

The xinhua news agency quoted a statement from the government information office of the Ukrainian government as saying that the sino-ukrainian economic and trade cooperation subcommittee had reached a cooperation agreement at the plenary meeting held in Beijing.

According to the statement, Ukraine's potential for renewable energy cooperation with China is huge because Ukraine is heavily dependent on imported energy."China is a world leader in renewable energy capacity expansion, which affects the global trend of clean energy development," the statement said.

In particular, Ukraine is interested in conducting joint investment projects with China to build a joint plant to produce renewable energy equipment and materials, and to establish financing mechanisms for clean energy projects.

The Ukrainian government has this year developed an "energy strategy" to increase the share of renewables in the energy mix from 4 per cent to 25 per cent by 2035.
