Turkey is expected to deploy seven megawatts of wind capacity in 2017, according to Mustafa Serdar Ataseven, President of TUREB.Several auctions have spurred investment in the wind industry, including one in the field of renewable energy resources.So far, Turkey has finished bidding for about 3 gigawatts of wind power projects and plans to complete the remaining capacity by the end of the year.

Ataseven said it would launch a pre-permit tender for the 2.1 gigawatt project in five days from December 25.The bidding requires the project to be completed within three to four years.

Turkey aims to generate 100 gigawatts of electricity by 2023, with 20 gigawatts coming from wind power.However, there are only 11 gigawatts of wind power.The general administration of renewable energy estimates that the country's wind power capacity is 48 gigawatts.
