We may see lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries used in most electric cars and bicycles soon. This new type of battery will dominate the market. Based on lithium-ion technology, LiFePO4 batteries have many advantages over lithium-cobalt batteries (LiCoO2) commonly used in 3C products like notebook computers, mp3 players and mobile phones.

For electric vehicles and plug-in electric vehicles, LiFePO4 batteries usually perform well at temperatures up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and can be used for 6 to 7 years under more than 3,000 charge and discharge cycles.
