Renewable Energy Accounts For 42% Of Egypt's Power Structure In 2025

Egypt's renewable energy sector will account for 42 per cent of the electricity mix by 2025, according to Mohamed Shaker, Egypt's electricity minister.

At an energy conference in Cairo this week, the power minister, Mohamed Shake, said that in early 2018, Egypt would start bidding for 600 megawatts of wind power projects.

In addition, the closely watched Benban solar park project will be launched in late 2018 or early 2019.

The Benban solar park, which consists of 32 small solar power stations, has a total installed capacity of 1,650mw, enough to meet the electricity needs of tens of thousands of homes and businesses.When completed, it will become one of the world's largest solar parks.

According to Mohamed Shaker, renewable energy will account for 42 per cent of Egypt's power structure by 2025, further meeting the country's growing demand for electricity.
