South Korea Has Developed New Battery Materials For Electric Vehicles.

South Korea institute of science and technology said in a news release, the court in conjunction with the university of Seoul with rich lithium cobalt nickel manganese oxide (LMR) materials, produce can overcome surface phenomenon of thermalization of new anode materials.The technology can improve the performance of electric car batteries.The findings are published in the international journal Nano Letters.

Anode materials (material than other high energy density, safety is strong, but when charging and discharging, crystal structure will appear unstable phenomenon, this phenomenon occurs mainly in the surface of the anode material particles, have limitations in commercial application.The south Korean technology keeps the surface of the LMR anode material stable, thus forming the surface structure of the lithium ion rapidly, inhibiting the thermal phenomenon of materials, and making the process simple and convenient.

The results show that the new material maintains the original characteristics when it is charged and discharged more than 300 times in two minutes.The technology can shorten charging time and improve driving distance. Meanwhile, the synthesis method and improvement scheme of anode materials can be applied to the next generation of electric vehicles and medium and large energy storage systems.
