The UK Has A 5MW/15MWh Liquid Air Energy Storage System In Landfills

Highview power has launched a 5MW/15MWh liquid air storage (LAES) system at the Pilsworth landfill site near Bury, Lancashire.

The system will use liquid nitrogen from tanker trucks, which will be pumped at high pressure and converted into gas generated by turbines.


Liquid air energy storage (LAES) power plant is with recycling and renewable energy manufacturers Viridor company cooperation development and construction, and in 2014 the British department of energy and climate change up to 8 million pounds.

The project won the 1.5 million - pound Innovate in last summer's UK money, used to show how liquid air energy storage (LAES) system can response to demand aggregators KiWi Power grid companies provide a series of reserves, balance and supervision services.
