Turkey Plans To Build The World's Largest Offshore Wind Farm

Oil net recently reported, the government will be on October 23 through an offshore wind farm construction and operation of application, the design of wind power installed capacity of 1200 megawatts (mw), will be the world's largest offshore wind farm.

It is understood that salos and gallipoli in the marmara region of northwest Turkey and kiikhoi in the region of Thrace are potential sites for construction.Meanwhile, Turkey has revealed other details about the construction and operation of the world's largest offshore wind farm, including that 60 per cent of the equipment needed for the project will be domestic and 80 per cent of the workforce will be Turkish.

Turkey has set a renewable energy target of 30 per cent of the country's total energy by 2023.In respect of wind power, according to the statistical data of energy and natural resources, Turkey, by the end of 2017, Turkey has 207 wind farms, with a total installed capacity of 6516 megawatts, accounted for 6.06% of Turkey's total capacity.
