West Bengal Plans To Add 2, 000 Megawatts Of Electricity In Five Years

The government of west Bengal plans to add 2,000 megawatts of power over the next five years and plans to use the latest technology to reduce power distribution and transmission losses.

According to the plan, the 2,000mw includes combined heat and hydropower generation, as well as 300 mw solar and other alternative energy sources.West Bengal will work to improve power quality and reduce transmission and distribution losses.

The old coal-fired power plants will gradually be outlawed by modern facilities to improve the efficiency of power generation, reduce the impact on the environment and reduce reliance on coal, the government said.

In recent years, the development of renewable energy in west Bengal has achieved remarkable results.Solar power, for example, has so far reached 200 megawatts of solar capacity in the region.
